Disease description:

I've been bleeding frequently when brushing my teeth these past two mornings. Could it be due to excessive internal heat ("shang huo")? What causes gum bleeding?

Bleeding gums are mostly caused by brushing too hard. Due to changes in endocrine function, dental tissues may be irritated by non-specific inflammation, leading to gum bleeding, gingival overgrowth, and increased discharge. Bleeding during toothbrushing is primarily associated with conditions such as thrombocytopenia, diabetes, leukemia, and vitamin C deficiency. Patients are advised to maintain good oral hygiene.
