Can gingival bleeding and periodontitis heal on their own?
Disease description:
Recently, I've often noticed bleeding gums while brushing my teeth. After an examination, I was diagnosed with periodontitis. Can bleeding gums caused by periodontitis heal on their own?
Gingival bleeding caused by periodontitis generally does not resolve on its own. The bleeding is usually triggered by dental calculus and plaque irritating the gums, leading to inflammation. Therefore, it typically cannot heal spontaneously. Patients need to undergo ultrasonic teeth cleaning as directed by a dentist to remove calculus and plaque from the tooth surfaces, along with appropriate medication for treatment.
