Bone marrow edema refers to an abnormal accumulation of fluid within the bone tissue. This pathological change is often caused by trauma, inflammatory reactions, or infections affecting the bone. Bone marrow edema commonly occurs following sprains or external injuries, and symptoms typically improve significantly with appropriate treatment. Patients may apply local heat therapy to alleviate symptoms, and if necessary, take anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving medications. It is also important to avoid cold exposure, chills, and irritants, and to actively treat the underlying condition causing the bone marrow edema.
