Pes anserine tendinitis is generally caused by prolonged physical activity, cold exposure, or chronic overuse. Increased pressure and tension on the inner side of the knee, tightness of the pes anserinus tendons, and excessive friction of the pes anserinus bursa lead to tissue damage and aseptic inflammation. Knee pes anserine tendinitis is often accompanied by local bursitis. Some middle-aged female patients who wear high heels for extended periods may also develop this condition. Medications that promote blood circulation and unblock meridians can be used to help relieve symptoms.
