Side effects of hemodialysis
Disease description:
After being diagnosed with kidney failure, I frequently need hemodialysis. What side effects can hemodialysis have on the body?
Hemodialysis often causes dialysis disequilibrium syndrome. When dialysis removes too many toxins from the patient's body, it may easily lead to cerebral edema, resulting in symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, headache, and dizziness. If the patient is allergic to the dialyzer, skin rashes and fever may occur; severe cases can lead to difficulty breathing. Additionally, prolonged hemodialysis can result in anemia and malnutrition, increasing the risk of infections.
