Risks of canthoplasty surgery may include localized swelling, inflammation and infection such as blepharitis, or the risk of eyelid ectropion. If the procedure is performed at an unqualified facility or by an inexperienced surgeon, it may result in asymmetry of the eyes after surgery. Additionally, patients may develop severe scarring at the corners of the eyes postoperatively.
