What causes a sensation of a foreign body in the throat?
Disease description:
I've been feeling like there's a foreign body in my throat these past couple of days. I'd like to know what could be causing this sensation.
A sensation of a foreign body in the throat may result from eating too quickly or carelessly, causing an object to become lodged in the throat. It could also be caused by prolonged fatigue or emotional stress leading to autonomic nervous system dysfunction. If the pharynx is affected by bacterial or viral infection, resulting in local congestion and swelling, patients may also experience a sensation of a foreign body in the throat.
