Under normal circumstances, gua sha or cupping should not cause changes in bowel movements. However, if the gastrointestinal meridians are stimulated during gua sha, it may lead to diarrhea. Additionally, if the patient already has gastrointestinal disorders or a weak constitution, and the abdomen becomes chilled during the gua sha procedure, abnormal bowel movements such as diarrhea may also occur.
