What are the disadvantages of tonsillectomy?
Disease description:
The tonsillitis is getting worse and worse; now I feel pain when eating. But there's no other option left—now the tonsils have to be removed. What are the downsides of tonsillectomy?
After tonsillectomy, the body's defense capacity may gradually decrease, making it easier for bacteria and viruses to invade the body and cause diseases such as pneumonia and bronchitis. There is also a risk of postoperative infection, which may impair wound healing and lead to abnormal absorption or secretion. If inflammation occurs, it may result in aspiration pneumonia or lung abscess.
