Disease description:

Recently, I've been experiencing frequent itching in the genital area along with a burning sensation, and I'm really afraid that I might have HPV. However, my friend said my symptoms seem more like fungal vaginitis (yeast infection). What are the differences between the symptoms of fungal vaginitis and HPV?

The differences in symptoms between fungal vaginitis and HPV infection are as follows: 1. Vaginal discharge changes: In fungal vaginitis, the discharge is typically thick, white, curd-like or resembling tofu residue; whereas in HPV infection, discharge may increase but is usually thin, white, watery, or rice-water-like, sometimes accompanied by a fishy odor. 2. Vulvar itching: Itching in fungal vaginitis is usually more severe and may interfere with daily activities; in contrast, vulvar itching associated with HPV infection tends to be milder and often improves with treatment. 3. Other symptoms: Fungal vaginitis may be accompanied by redness, swelling, edema of the vulva, pain during urination, and painful intercourse; HPV infection may lead to contact bleeding and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. If you have any concerns, please seek medical evaluation promptly.
