What is the difference between acute and chronic vulvitis?
Disease description:
Recently, my vaginal discharge has been abnormal. My doctor told me this is caused by chronic vulvitis. I would like to know, what are the differences between acute and chronic vulvitis?
The difference between acute and chronic vulvitis lies in the onset speed and symptoms. Acute vulvitis has a shorter onset period and more pronounced symptoms: initial discomfort in the vulva is followed by itching, pain, and a burning sensation. In severe cases, symptoms may include eczema, frequent urination, and pain during intercourse. Chronic vulvitis lasts longer, with milder symptoms of vaginal discomfort and abnormal vaginal discharge; some patients may experience painful urination.
