Disease description:

Frequent vaginal itching, occasional pain during intercourse; I always thought I had trichomonal vaginitis, but only after a hospital examination did I realize I actually have fungal (yeast) vaginitis. What are the differences in symptoms between trichomonal vaginitis and fungal vaginitis?

Trichomonal vaginitis and fungal infection refer to trichomonas vaginitis and vulvovaginal candidiasis, respectively. The symptoms differ in that trichomonas vaginitis is characterized by yellow-green vaginal discharge with a foul odor, and most patients experience itching at the vaginal opening and on the external genitalia. Vulvovaginal candidiasis mainly causes increased vaginal discharge that is thick, white, and curd-like or resembling cottage cheese, accompanied by symptoms such as burning pain in the vulva, dyspareunia (pain during intercourse), and discomfort.
