Disease description:

My child was only nine months old when diagnosed with hemophilia at the hospital, so I'd like to ask: what are the early symptoms of hemophilia in infants?

Dr. Liu Feng
Hemophilia is an X-linked recessive inherited bleeding disorder caused by defects in the gene encoding coagulation factor VIII (FVIII) or coagulation factor IX (FIX), leading to a deficiency of FVIII or FIX. This results in lifelong abnormal blood clotting function and a persistent tendency to bleed. Early symptoms of hemophilia in infants may manifest as anemia, including pallor, poor appetite, lethargy, fatigue, and excessive sleepiness. Additionally, joint and bone pain may occur, most commonly affecting the legs. Other manifestations may include mucosal bleeding from the nose that is difficult to stop once it starts, as well as potential gastrointestinal or intracranial hemorrhage.
