Prolonged mobile phone use can definitely cause strabismus. Staring at a phone for extended periods forces the eyes to converge inward. Chronic eye strain may lead to accommodative spasm, which in turn causes strabismus. This condition can be treated by pressing on the Sanleng point (a traditional acupuncture point). If esotropia develops after six months, surgical correction will be necessary. If refractive errors are present, treating the refractive error can help correct the strabismus. Take care of your eyes and try to avoid holding devices too close.
