Does sepsis have symptoms of anemia?
Disease description:
A relative was recently diagnosed with sepsis. However, they often appear pale and feel weak. I would like to ask: can sepsis cause symptoms of anemia?
Sepsis can lead to anemia, but it depends on the situation. If sepsis is mild and the bacteria entering the bloodstream are quickly cleared by the body's immune system, anemia generally does not occur, and the bone marrow's hematopoietic system is usually not affected. However, if a patient has severe sepsis or suffers from chronic sepsis, leading to bone marrow suppression or chronic blood loss, anemia typically develops in such cases.
