Does cataract cause vision loss?
Disease description:
I have developed cataracts, and for the past two days I've noticed that my vision isn't as clear as it used to be. Could this be caused by the cataracts?
Cataracts cause decreased vision in patients and are one of the leading causes of blindness. In the early stages of cataracts, patients may experience double vision, photophobia, and myopia. As lens opacity worsens, vision deteriorates significantly, affecting the patient's daily life and work. In advanced cataracts, liquefaction of the lens may occur, potentially leading to lens cortex blocking the anterior chamber angle, resulting in elevated intraocular pressure and secondary glaucoma. It is recommended to seek medical evaluation and treatment as early as possible to prevent disease progression.
