Are there any complications associated with cataract surgery?
Disease description:
I had cataract surgery and am currently in the recovery phase. I would like to ask the doctor: does cataract surgery have any complications or side effects?
Cataract surgery may also have some potential aftereffects or complications, including:
1. Inflammation: Mild inflammation may occur after surgery and is usually controlled with the use of eye drops.
2. Swelling or bleeding: Transient swelling or bleeding within the eye tissues may occur after surgery and generally resolves on its own.
3. Displacement of intraocular lens: Occasionally, the artificial lens may shift out of position and may require additional surgery to reposition.
4. Retinal problems: Such as retinal detachment, which is uncommon but requires close monitoring in high-risk patients.
5. Light sensitivity or glare: Some patients may experience sensitivity to bright light after surgery and may require time to adjust.
Note: To reduce these risks, patients should follow the doctor's postoperative care instructions, attend regular follow-up appointments, and seek medical attention promptly if any discomfort arises.
