Will there be discomfort after circumcision for redundant prepuce?
Disease description:
The doctor said my foreskin is slightly too long, and I'm considering having it removed at the hospital. I'd like to know whether there will be any discomfort after circumcision.
After circumcision for redundant prepuce, there should be no discomfort. Under normal circumstances, the male glans is naturally exposed and not covered by the foreskin.
In the early period following circumcision, the surgical site may experience pain. This can result from infection or, alternatively, from the dissipation of anesthesia and the cutting of nerves in the skin and subcutaneous tissues during surgery.
Because the foreskin has long covered the glans, once exposed, the glans may repeatedly rub against clothing, bed sheets, or other materials, which can lead to discomfort or pain. After some time, the skin of the glans typically undergoes keratinization, reducing its sensitivity so that ordinary stimuli no longer cause pain. Normally, symptoms completely resolve within one month after surgery, so there is no need for excessive concern.
