Braxton Hicks contractions during the second trimester may potentially affect the fetus. These contractions, which are a common occurrence in pregnant women, are characterized by irregular uterine tightening that lasts for a short duration but occurs at long intervals. If they occur occasionally and subside after resting for a while, they typically do not have any adverse effects on the fetus. However, frequent uterine contractions during pregnancy are often caused by abdominal trauma or falls, which can reduce blood supply to the uterus, potentially leading to placental abruption and subsequent complications such as difficult labor.
