Ovarian cysts are generally caused by hormonal imbalances, low immunity, genetic factors, and other reasons. Ovarian cysts may be physiological corpus luteum cysts, which typically form due to fluid accumulation in the follicle after ovulation, or inflammatory ovarian cysts resulting from pelvic inflammatory stimulation. They may also develop into ovarian chocolate cysts when endometrial tissue sheds during menstruation and travels through the fallopian tubes into the ovaries, often associated with sexual intercourse during menstruation.
