Disease description:

I've had a sore throat for about half a month and was diagnosed with tonsil enlargement. However, I don't have time for treatment right now. What are the risks of long-term tonsil enlargement?

Long-term tonsillar enlargement may cause a sensation of a foreign body in the throat, painful swallowing, and bad breath. In severe cases, it can lead to peritonsillar abscesses. Additionally, it may easily trigger chronic otitis media, laryngitis, and other conditions. Patients are advised to maintain good oral hygiene by brushing teeth morning and night to prevent food residue from remaining in the mouth. Drink plenty of water, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, and avoid or limit spicy, irritating, and greasy foods.
