Symptoms of mesenteric lymphadenitis typically include abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. Abdominal pain is most commonly located in the right lower quadrant, although it is often atypical. If a child experiences abdominal discomfort and the cause needs to be determined, medical evaluation with an ultrasound examination is recommended. It is generally necessary to assess for abnormalities such as enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes or enlargement and edema of the appendix.
