How to care for paralysis after spinal cord injury
Disease description:
My husband suffered a spinal cord injury due to trauma some time ago, and he has now developed paralysis. Could you please advise on how to care for someone who is paralyzed after a spinal cord injury?
After spinal cord injury, paralyzed patients should generally use a soft, breathable bed with adequate support; an air mattress is ideal. Secondly, the patient should be turned every two hours to prevent pressure ulcers caused by prolonged skin compression. When turning the patient, support both the upper and lower body with your hands, keeping the body aligned along the same axis. Take care to avoid twisting the spine during turning to prevent secondary injury.
