Disease description:

My girlfriend insisted on dragging me out for a run. After running five kilometers today, my thigh started hurting badly. I went to the clinic and was told I had a pulled thigh muscle. What should I do for a pulled thigh muscle from running?

Hamstring strain from running can generally be treated through rest, heat application, and similar methods. After such an injury occurs, the primary step is to ensure the thigh muscles are fully relaxed—for example, by resting in bed—and the leg should be elevated, ideally higher than the level of the heart, to help reduce muscle swelling and promote recovery. If pain worsens, a hot water bottle may be appropriately applied for heat therapy 3 to 5 times daily, each session lasting 20 to 30 minutes. This helps improve blood circulation and facilitates the absorption of inflammatory byproducts.
