What causes brain atrophy?
Disease description:
Recently, my grandfather has been having trouble remembering things—he's sometimes very clear-minded, while at other times forgetful. After an examination, the doctor diagnosed him with brain atrophy. I'd like to know what causes brain atrophy?
Cerebral atrophy is a normal degenerative change that occurs in healthy individuals as they reach a certain age, and does not require treatment in normal elderly people. If physical discomfort or symptoms occur, one should promptly seek medical attention at a hospital. In cases of pathological cerebral atrophy, the underlying cause must be identified. Such conditions require hospital evaluation and, based on examination results, treatment using both traditional Chinese and Western medical approaches.
