What are the symptoms of pituitary tumors in women?
Disease description:
My close friend was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor, but she seemed perfectly normal before. What are the symptoms of pituitary tumors in women?
Symptoms of pituitary tumors in women include menstrual irregularities, amenorrhea, and galactorrhea. When the optic nerve is compressed, metabolic and endocrine disturbances may occur. A typical manifestation of pituitary tumors is decreased pituitary function, the extent of which correlates with the degree of compression of normal pituitary gland cells. Excessive pituitary activity can affect the posterior pituitary and hypothalamus, while the tumor may cause drooling, polydipsia, hypothermia, disturbances in water and electrolyte balance, and polyuria.
