Mild concussion may present with symptoms such as tinnitus, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, and fatigue. Patients with mild concussion may also experience headaches and should rest in bed, avoiding external stimuli as much as possible. They can take oral analgesic medications such as Rotundine. For patients suffering from insomnia, anxiety, or irritability, medications that enhance autonomic nervous system function may be taken under a doctor's guidance. If necessary, neurotrophic agents or calcium channel blockers such as Nimodipine may also be prescribed. Adequate rest is essential during treatment—typically one week of rest is recommended. Additionally, external stimuli should be minimized, excessive physical exertion avoided, and psychological counseling actively pursued to reduce fear and anxiety, which can aid in recovery.
