Is a cyst in the uterus or ovary dangerous?

Ovarian and uterine cysts can be dangerous. If the cyst is unilateral, with a smooth surface, small size, slow growth, and no associated symptoms, medical evaluation can be scheduled promptly. However, if the cysts are bilateral, large in size, rapidly growing, irregular in shape, and show solid echogenic areas within, this may indicate ovarian malignancy and represents a more dangerous condition.
