What is uterine prolapse?
Disease description:
After giving birth to my first child, my health has not been good. I was planning to have a second baby, but the doctor told me I have uterine prolapse and advised against having another pregnancy. What is uterine prolapse?
Uterine prolapse generally refers to the descent of the uterus from its normal position down along the vagina, with part or all of it protruding outside the vaginal opening. Normally, the uterus is located at the top of the vagina within the pelvis. If the pelvic fascia, ligaments, or muscles become relaxed or weakened, their supportive capacity for the uterus decreases, leading to uterine prolapse. Multiple childbirths, birth injuries, ovarian function decline, and chronically increased abdominal pressure are all factors that can contribute to uterine prolapse.
