Is it normal to have a fever without elevated white blood cells?
Disease description:
My test results show that my white blood cell count is not elevated, but I have a slight fever. Is this normal?
The patient's routine blood test is normal, especially with no elevated white blood cell count, yet fever is present, which is usually caused by a viral infection. Oral antipyretic and antiviral medications can be used for treatment. It is recommended that the patient take antiviral oral solution, ibuprofen tablets, or acetaminophen (paracetamol) tablets under medical supervision. The patient should monitor body temperature regularly to prevent febrile seizures. Symptoms typically gradually improve within 2 to 3 weeks.
