Dr. Bai Hongmei
Cerebral palsy in children refers to a syndrome of motor and postural functional disorders caused by non-progressive brain injury beginning during the immature stage of brain development, within one month after birth. There are many causes of cerebral palsy in children. Prenatal factors include advanced parental age, parental underlying diseases, or genetic disorders. Factors during pregnancy include intrauterine ischemia and hypoxia, intrauterine infection, or multiple pregnancies. Postnatal factors include neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, infections, and malnutrition.
