Disease description:

I went to the hospital for a checkup today, and the doctor told me I have blocked fallopian tubes. Does having blocked fallopian tubes mean I can't have children? Can I still do in vitro fertilization (IVF) with blocked fallopian tubes?

Dr. Zhao Xiaodong
If the fallopian tubes are blocked, it is primarily important to determine which segment is obstructed. If the blockage occurs in the interstitial portion, in vitro fertilization (IVF) is recommended directly. Restoring tubal patency may allow for the possibility of natural conception. Therefore, once tubal obstruction is identified, treatment should be pursued to achieve tubal patency and subsequently aim for natural pregnancy. If treatment is not feasible, in vitro fertilization remains the only option to achieve pregnancy.
