What causes heavy menstrual bleeding twice a month for a whole month?
Disease description:
Normal women have menstrual periods that occur on a relatively regular cycle, typically about once a month. However, some women experience menstruation twice a month, which is clearly an abnormal condition. It is important to identify the underlying cause and then carry out appropriate regulation and treatment. What causes heavy menstrual bleeding occurring twice within one month?
If there are two menstrual periods within one month, the second episode of vaginal bleeding occurring in the middle of the cycle is usually caused by ovulation-related bleeding. The main cause of ovulation bleeding is a temporary drop in estrogen and progesterone levels during ovulation, which leads to a relative deficiency of these hormones. As a result, the endometrium loses hormonal support, causing breakthrough bleeding and resulting in vaginal bleeding. After ovulation ends, estrogen and progesterone levels gradually return to their baseline. Once the endometrium is repaired, the vaginal bleeding stops spontaneously—this is the mechanism behind ovulation bleeding. Clinically, supplemental treatment with Jiayue (a form of estrogen) can be used in the latter half of the menstrual cycle.
