How is cervical spondylotic myelopathy treated?
Disease description:
I'd like to know what effective treatments are available. I've previously tried acupuncture, intravenous fluids, herbal medicine for body regulation, and small needle knife therapy, but there's been no improvement, so I'm quite concerned. How should cervical spondylotic myelopathy be treated?
Conservative treatment is usually recommended. For patients with mild symptoms, conservative management should be actively pursued, with an emphasis on adequate rest. Patients should avoid bending their heads down, refrain from prolonged cervical spine movement, and keep neck muscles as relaxed as possible. Conservative treatment can help slow the progression of cervical spondylosis to some extent, but regular follow-up is necessary. Surgery should still be considered if the condition worsens. Currently, the effectiveness of drug therapy is limited. If patients are not allergic to topical plasters, they may use certain blood-activating and stasis-resolving plasters under medical guidance, along with oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and traditional Chinese medicines that relax tendons, improve circulation, and resolve blood stasis, combined with neurotrophic agents to help alleviate symptoms.
