Disease description:

I am a 25-year-old female. Recently, I noticed that my period has lasted for ten days and the flow is getting heavier. I'm afraid this might be caused by some gynecological condition, so I'm very concerned. What could be the reason for my period lasting ten days with increasing bleeding?

The main causes of increased menstrual bleeding include uterine fibroids, endometrial polyps, adenomyosis, and coagulation disorders. Therefore, if menstrual flow is progressively increasing, it is important to promptly visit a hospital for ultrasound and complete blood count tests. If the increasing menstrual flow is caused by adenomyosis or uterine fibroids, surgical intervention may be required. Depending on the patient's age and fertility desires, either a total hysterectomy or myomectomy can be chosen. If the cause is endometrial polyps, hysteroscopic polypectomy can be performed. If the condition is due to a hematologic disorder, treatment should be directed by a hematologist.
