What is a herniated disc?
Disease description:
A friend said he went to the hospital for a checkup the other day and was diagnosed with a herniated disc. What is a herniated disc?
Herniated disc is a common spinal condition caused by damage to the intervertebral disc tissue. It most frequently occurs at the lower end of the spinal column, where excessive pressure on the disc leads to disc protrusion, affecting nearby nerve roots and organs. A herniated disc may cause symptoms of lumbar spine disorders, such as lower back pain, difficulty moving the waist, stabbing pain in the lumbosacral region, and abnormal sensations.
