If a child has a fever at night with a temperature below 38.5°C, a cooling patch can be applied to the forehead, or warm water can be used to wipe areas such as the armpits and abdomen, which helps achieve physical cooling. If the temperature exceeds 38.5°C, fever-reducing medications such as nimesulide or acetaminophen may be administered according to medical advice. If the fever is caused by a viral infection, antiviral medications such as oral antiviral solution or ribavirin granules may be used in combination.
