For wind-heat type of common cold, patients may use traditional Chinese patent medicines that dispel wind and clear heat under the guidance of a doctor. Commonly used medications include Shuanghuanglian oral liquid and Lanqin oral liquid. If the cause is a viral infection, antiviral drugs such as Kangganling oral liquid or Ribavirin granules may be added. If body temperature exceeds 38.5°C, antipyretic medications such as ibuprofen or loxoprofen sodium can be used.
