Hemophilia patients typically experience bleeding to varying degrees. In the early stages of the disease, patients may have prolonged bleeding from sites such as the skin, oral cavity, and gums. Some bleeding areas may develop bruising and swelling. When joints are injured, some patients may develop symptoms including redness, swelling, heat, pain, restricted joint movement, or joint stiffness and deformity. If muscle trauma leads to bleeding, it may also cause muscle spasms or lower abdominal pain.
