What are the steps for a pregnant woman to administer heparin injections in the thigh?

Injecting heparin into the thigh of a pregnant woman refers to administering heparin deep into the thigh muscle as a treatment method to reduce blood coagulation and prevent thrombosis. This technique ensures that pregnant women effectively receive heparin, thereby reducing bleeding during childbirth and saving the lives of both mother and baby. First, before administering heparin, the doctor must perform a comprehensive examination of the pregnant woman to determine whether she meets the criteria for heparin injection. Second, the doctor must prepare the required medication and syringe; both the heparin and the injection solution must be intact. Then, holding antiseptic solution with the thumb and index finger, the doctor spreads the pregnant woman’s legs and has her lie flat on the bed. Using the left hand, the doctor pinches the thigh muscle with the thumb and index finger. Third, the doctor should locate the appropriate site on the thigh muscle to determine the injection point. Next, using the left hand, the doctor pinches the skin of the thigh, trims any hair with scissors, and cleans the skin with a sterile cotton swab soaked in disinfectant.
