Why does my baby have recurring fever?
Disease description:
Why does my baby's fever keep coming and going?
Possible reasons for a baby's recurring fever:
1. Infection: Respiratory tract infections, usually caused by viruses, bacteria, or mycoplasma, may lead to recurrent fever, runny nose, cough, and sputum production. Central nervous system infections can also cause repeated fever, possibly accompanied by symptoms such as headache, nausea, and vomiting.
2. Kawasaki disease: This is a common acute, self-limited vasculitis in children that may result in recurrent fever, rash, lymphadenopathy, and conjunctivitis.
3. Leukemia: The presence of abnormal cells in leukemia may act as a source of pyrogens in the bloodstream, causing fever.
4. Immune system disorders: For example, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) may lead to recurrent fever, symmetric malar butterfly rash, purpura, anemia, and weight loss.
