What are the early symptoms of rabies?

Early symptoms of rabies include fever, fatigue, and muscle pain. These symptoms may appear 2 to 10 days after a person is infected with rabies and can last for several days or weeks. The fever may persist for several days but typically does not exceed 40 degrees Celsius. It may be accompanied by headache, cough, sore throat, phlegm production, throat pain, or spasms. Fatigue may be associated with dizziness, weakness, backache, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, or indigestion. Muscle pain may be accompanied by involuntary limb twitching, muscle spasms, numbness, or pain in the limbs. Patients may also experience mental confusion or psychotic behaviors.
