Why does gastrointestinal bleeding occur?
Disease description:
Suddenly felt stomach pain, and after going to the hospital, gastric bleeding was discovered. What could be the cause of this?
Gastrointestinal bleeding refers to bleeding caused by damage to the gastric mucosa, which can be either acute or chronic. Acute gastrointestinal bleeding may result from injury to the gastric mucosa, such as abdominal trauma, hypertension, intestinal bleeding, peptic ulcers, stomach cancer, viral infections, and the abuse of medications or alcohol. Chronic gastrointestinal bleeding may be caused by chronic gastritis, which results from inflammation and damage to the gastric mucosa. In addition, other potential causes include chronic gastric ulcers, hemophilia, systemic lupus erythematosus, thrombocytopenic purpura, and postoperative bleeding.
