Bleeding continuously after tooth extraction

Normally, some degree of bleeding after tooth extraction is a natural physiological response and can usually be controlled within a short time by firmly biting down on a gauze pad to apply pressure and stop the bleeding. However, if bleeding continues persistently after the extraction, it may be due to factors such as a large wound, abnormal blood clotting function, infection, or improper post-operative care. In such cases, patients should immediately take further measures to control bleeding—such as replacing the gauze with a clean piece and continuing to apply pressure to the site—while avoiding vigorous rinsing or sucking actions that could disturb the blood clot.

If the condition worsens, medical attention should be sought promptly. Patients should also ensure adequate rest and avoid spicy or irritating foods, which helps promote wound healing.
