Can partial closure of the growth plate be treated?
Disease description:
Currently much shorter than peers; after a hospital examination, it was found that the growth plates are partially closed. Can partially closed growth plates be treated?
Treatment is still possible when the growth plates are partially closed, but the effectiveness and approach vary depending on individual circumstances. Generally, the following methods may help promote bone growth:
1. Medication: Taking supplements such as vitamin D, calcium gluconate, and zinc solution. However, the effectiveness of medication is usually limited, and it should only be used under a doctor's supervision.
2. Nutritional adjustments: Improving diet by consuming more high-calcium, high-protein foods such as tofu, dried shrimp, fish, eggs, and cheese, while avoiding excessive intake of sweets.
3. Physical exercise: Engaging in outdoor activities such as running and jumping, and increasing sun exposure to enhance calcium absorption.
If early closure of growth plates results in restricted height growth, doctors might recommend hormone therapy, growth hormone treatment, or surgical procedures to extend the epiphyseal plates. However, please note that these treatments must be conducted under the guidance of qualified medical professionals and their effectiveness varies from person to person.
