What should silkworm pupae not be eaten with?
I saw silkworm pupae being sold, which I've never encountered before. My family and I are quite curious about it, but we don't know much and have no one to ask, so I'd like to learn more online: what should not be eaten together with silkworm pupae?
1. Silkworm pupae should not be consumed together with foods high in oxalic acid, such as spinach, leeks, and strawberries, because oxalic acid may bind with calcium in silkworm pupae to form calcium oxalate, increasing the risk of urinary tract stones.
2. Silkworm pupae should be avoided with foods rich in tannins, such as persimmons, grapes, and hawthorns, because tannins may bind with proteins in silkworm pupae to form indigestible complexes, reducing nutritional value and increasing gastrointestinal burden.
3. The foreign proteins in silkworm pupae may trigger allergic reactions; therefore, they should not be consumed together with allergenic foods such as seafood and mangoes, to avoid increasing the risk of allergy.
4. Silkworm pupae are naturally high in protein. Consuming them together with other high-protein foods such as eggs and milk may increase the burden on the kidneys and be detrimental to health.
