What causes uterine polyps?
Disease description:
What causes uterine polyps?
The formation of uterine polyps is usually associated with multiple factors. The main causes are as follows:
1. Uterine infection: Infections of the uterus may occur during childbirth, miscarriage, puerperal period, surgical procedures, or sexual intercourse, which can lead to the development of uterine polyps.
2. Endocrine disorders: Elevated estrogen levels are one of the key factors contributing to uterine polyps. Abnormal increases in estrogen can disrupt the normal metabolism of the endometrium, promoting the formation of polyps.
3. Inflammatory stimulation: Long-term exposure of the cervix to pathogens such as bacteria, fungi, and trichomonads may cause excessive proliferation of cervical mucosa, leading to polyp formation.
4. Other factors: Genetic predisposition, aging, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and the use of intrauterine devices (IUDs) are also associated with the development of uterine polyps.
