Disease description:
How to relieve high eye pressure

High intraocular pressure can be relieved through the following methods:
1. Eye care: Perform eye exercises, especially eye movements such as rotating the eyeballs up, down, left, and right, which help strengthen eye muscles and improve blood circulation. Apply warm compresses using a warm towel to the eyes for about 5–10 minutes, 2–3 times daily, to promote ocular blood flow and relieve eye pressure.
2. Dietary adjustments: Orally consume hyperosmotic agents such as honey to increase blood osmotic pressure, which helps absorb excess fluid from the eye and reduce intraocular pressure. Eat more diuretic foods such as watermelon and wax gourd (winter melon) to assist the body in eliminating excess fluid and help lower eye pressure.
3. Medication: If necessary, use prescribed intraocular pressure-lowering eye drops under medical supervision, such as timolol maleate ophthalmic solution or carteolol hydrochloride ophthalmic solution. Oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, such as acetazolamide tablets, or intravenous administration of mannitol injection may also be used to reduce eye pressure.
4. Lifestyle modifications: Ensure adequate sleep and avoid prolonged eye strain. Manage stress effectively, maintain a positive mental state, and avoid emotional tension and anxiety.
