Anal warts are a skin condition caused by infection with human papillomavirus (HPV), primarily characterized by wart-like growths in the anal area. This condition is mostly caused by non-cancerous HPV types, such as HPV 6 and 11, which are typically detected before or concurrently with the appearance of anogenital warts. Symptoms of anal warts include a sensation of a foreign body in the anus, itching, and local bleeding during bowel movements. If infection occurs, pain may also develop. Treatment options include medication, physical therapies, and surgical intervention, aimed at removing the warts and providing antiviral therapy. Since anal warts have the potential to undergo malignant transformation over time, prompt treatment is essential once diagnosis is confirmed. During treatment, patients should maintain cleanliness and dryness of the affected area, avoid skin moisture, and follow a light, easily digestible diet while avoiding irritating foods.
