In general, bleeding from hemorrhoids does not usually persist indefinitely.

Bleeding from hemorrhoids mainly results from rupture of blood vessels on the surface of the hemorrhoidal tissue, commonly seen in internal hemorrhoids, especially during bowel movements due to increased pressure. The severity and frequency of bleeding depend on the stage of the hemorrhoids and individual physical conditions. Mild hemorrhoidal bleeding may only manifest as blood on toilet paper after defecation or a small amount of fresh blood in the toilet bowl. This type of bleeding can generally be controlled through lifestyle improvements, dietary adjustments, and following medical advice for medication, such as topical application of hemostatic ointments.

However, if bleeding from hemorrhoids is not promptly and effectively treated, it may lead to excessive blood loss, which can cause serious complications such as anemia and shock, and even threaten the patient's life. Therefore, if a patient experiences symptoms of bleeding hemorrhoids, sufficient attention must be given, and timely medical consultation along with adherence to the doctor's treatment recommendations is essential.

Patients should also maintain good bowel habits in daily life, avoid prolonged sitting or standing, and excessive straining during bowel movements, as these behaviors may worsen hemorrhoidal conditions. Additionally, increasing dietary fiber intake and drinking more water can help alleviate constipation symptoms and reduce the severity of hemorrhoids.
